ABOUT US

F.R.E.T. is now in their sixth decade of making original rock music. The founders of this Chicago band started playing together in 1965, after being spellbound by The Beatles and seeing them play live in '66   Other musical influences include Bob Dylan, the Byrds, 1960's garage rock and 1980's new wave bands, all of whom the band has covered to showcase F.R.E.T.’s clean and uncomplicated sound.

Formerly known as The Violators in the 1980's, F.R.E.T.  has transformed their music from folk rock, pop, and new wave music to their current eclectic garage band sound.  Although writing and playing music has never been their full-time gig, it has always been their enduring passion.

Their original songs reflect a rich content over the six decades of their shared friendship and experiences: stories, adventures, lost and found love, and trending topics they have felt were important to them personally.

Following their inaugural breakthrough album, First F.R.E.T. (aka, Not Too Old), the band released their latest EP, Nightmare, in April, 2019.  It, in part, reflects their concerns over the changing political landscape impacting their country and community. And, F.R.E.T. has just released a live album of their most popular songs, recorded at the Acorn Theater in southwest Michigan in the summer of 2019. The music available on this website spans all six decades of music that has changed their lives forever.

We hope you enjoy listening to their music as much as the band enjoys playing it.
